If you do something, do it well or don’t do it at all!

Lately I’ve become more and more frustrated with people who do the things they do in a way which can only be called sloppy, or as just good enough to get by On the other hand I myself have become a rather ardent supporter of the slogan “do it right, or don’t do it at all.” I can understand that if you’re still learning you might fail, but if you’re capable of doing the task, why do with in a way which would required redoing it later on because of the quality of work? I get that doing it right usually takes more effort, but at the same time doing it right usually produces a better result which lasts longer or has a better efficiency something which makes it worthwhile. Is it really that hard to do things right, to go the extra mile? I don’t think so, but I seem to be in the minority.

When examined more closely this seems to be very pervasive in today’s consumerism driven society. The whole idea of consumerism is that you can just consume what you have at the moment and don’t care what happens with the waste and don’t care about what the results will be, because if you don’t like it because thrown away in my something new, something better. Just as long as you have the money, or whatever it is that is needed to get what you want. The whole idea of obsolescence by designers actually a finely tuned mechanism of doing it just right enough so people will keep buying it, but producing stuff which is now good enough to last long or be of a remarkable quality. To buy things which are of a remarkable quality, a quality which would make it last long and make it dependable in all situations, you usually need an exorbitant amount of money or go through a lot of effort to obtain it. I HATE THIS!
